Anchor Teen Empowerment Group
ANCHOR:
The purpose of an anchor is to keep a ship safe and secure if used properly.
The youth empowerment group is designed to provide support and educate youth on various ways to manage challenging situations, regulate emotions, and make wise decisions to motivate and guide them in a positive direction.
This program is used with adolescents who are currently involved with the Department of Juvenile Justice or who are displaying antisocial behaviors that, if not managed, may lead to criminal justice involvement. The first MRT programs won several national awards in the late 1980s. It was then widely implemented in social programs for youth in Puerto Rico and utilized in drug courts at the start of the drug court movement in the early 1990s and was given the status of an “Evidence-Based Program” in 2008.
How It Is Conducted
The program has 16 Steps with 12 of these typically completed in approximately 30 group sessions. Clients complete homework for each group prior to coming to a session. In group each client presents his or her homework and the facilitator passes the client on to the next step or has the client redo the homework based on objective criteria. All MRT groups are open-ended meaning that new clients can enter an ongoing group at any time. Each group session will usually have new clients as well as some finishing the program.

Will my insurance pay for this? At this time we are not planning to accept insurance for this program but will be happy to provide you with a superbill that you can present to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.

What are the associated costs? Each participant will be required to purchase a workbook prior to starting the program($27) and each group session is $30. Individuals paying in cash can receive a $5 discount bringing each session paid for in cash to $25 per session.
We will be willing to file these sessions with your insurance company as well, which means that you will only pay your copay or coinsurance each session ( in addition to the $27 book fee)
